1, 2, 3… get shizzy

That’s right, we’re Getting Ready to put on a production of Jason Robert Brown’s 13.  I’ll be merging the Guitar I & II books, which is one of my favorite things to do!

This time out, I’ll be using a few new toys – the Fractal Audio AX8 and the super light-weight Matrix FR12.  Both sounded great in rehearsal last night, but I’m sure I’ll be tweaking things until the last minute.

I hope to get time to do a rundown of the patches to show what the AX8 can do.  As you can tell by the lack of updates to this site, it’s been busy around here.  More about that later!

Rig Rundown : Superstar

As I described in a previous post, I swapped out my large guitar rig for a smaller and more versatile Fractal Audio Axe-Fx II mid-way through preparations for Jesus Christ Superstar.  This compact unit allowed me to conserve space, get some killer sounds and maintain control of my on-stage levels.  It’s hard to imagine how I could have fit all the equipment I modeled in the Axe-Fx on stage with me.

Could we start again?

I was excited when I landed the guitar part for Superstar and immediately started planning the perfect guitar rig to cover the varied sounds in the show. Little did I know that my multi-guitar / multi-amp dream rig would be downsized to what could fit into a 2’ x 3’ space, including the guitar player!
