I’m working on Jerome Kern’s “All The Things You Are” again (still?) and have been working on a transcription of the first chorus of a sax solo by Jimmy Heath from the album Luminescence with Pat Metheny (iTunes).
Thanks to my excellent instructor Mason Razavi for turning me on to this recording!
I hope to tackle the second chorus soon, and maybe some of Pat’s soloing, but this first chorus has a lot to offer, including some interesting phrasing (9/4, I’m looking at you!).
